Winnipeg
Experience the spectacular wildlife of Manitoba with an adventure from the dense forests of Riding Mountain National Park to the colourful tundra of Churchill. The Frontiers North Big Five Safari is a nod to the incredible array of megafauna that populate the forests, tundra and rivers of this beautiful province.
Our journey begins in Winnipeg, the geographic center of North America. We travel over-land to Riding Mountain National Park where the bold boreal forest, expanses of meadows and lakes, lofty heights and deep gorges of the Manitoba Escarpment are home to moose, black bears, a captive bison herd and more.
From there our adventure takes us to Churchill where the boreal forest gives way to the rugged and barren tundra and where we will set out in search of mighty polar bear and beluga whales.
Embark on a travel experience that will stay with you forever. We offer a blend of culture, adventure, and tranquility, ensuring every moment is filled with wonder. Whether you’re seeking thrill or relaxation, we create journeys that are truly unforgettable.
Arrive into Winnipeg and check into your hotel. The tour begins when you meet your Frontiers North Interpretive Guide for a meet and greet in the evening.
This morning you will be transferred by bus to Riding Mountain National Park (RMNP). Upon arrival enjoy an introduction to Riding Mountain National Park. In the evening partake in a wildlife safari.
Your first activity of the day is a morning wildlife drive followed by an interpretive bison enclosure presentation by Parks Canada. Take advantage of some free time to explore the town of Wasagaming before your guided tour of the Parks Canada Visitor Centre.
Take an early morning wildlife drive before breakfast. Return by bus to Winnipeg and check into your hotel in the evening to get some rest before your early flight tomorrow morning.
Early this morning you will be transferred by plane to Churchill. Activities for the day include a Churchill Town & Area Tour, the Eskimo Museum, the Parks Canada Visitor Centre and a Beluga Whale & Prince of Wales Fort tour.
Today is all about wildlife viewing so have your cameras ready! The first activity is an exciting Beluga Zodiac Tour. Next up is a Dog Cart Excursion hosted by a local resident and dog sledding expert. Meet the team of friendly dogs and ride for a mile through the northern boreal forest.
On your final day in Churchill you will be treated to a Tundra Buggy Adventure before flying back to Winnipeg for the night.
You may depart Winnipeg at your leisure.
