The journey Begins

Day 1: Vancouver to Whistler

Once you arrive in the Vancouver Airport please make your way to the ground transportation section where you will board your motor coach transportation to Whistler.

Overnight: Whistler
Day 2: Whistler

Today, enjoy your full day in whistler. Stroll Whistler village including boutique stores and restaurants or explore the natural beauty in the winter time. You may decide to experience the mountains of Whistler-Blackcomb Ski Resort. Admission to the Scandinave Spa Whistler is included, immerse yourself completely in the beauty and serenity of the forest and surrounding mountains at a Scandinavian inspired outdoor/indoor hydrotherapy experience.

Day 3: Whistler - Vancouver - Jasper

Today you will be transferred to the train station in Vancouver where you will board the "Canadian" for your eastward journey towards Alberta and Jasper National Park.Travelling in Sleeper Class, by day you will sit back in comfortable armchairs, at night attendants will transform your quarters into cozy bunks or a private bedroom. You will have access to the Park Car which offers a lounge atmosphere and the Dome Car for 180 degree panoramic windows for spectacular viewing. Gourmet meals are included in the dining room while travelling in Sleeper Class.
Day 4: Jasper / Maligne Canyon

The Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour is one of Jasper's most popular and impressive winter adventures. Your Sundog tour guide will take you to the bottom of the Maligne Canyon "“ the deepest accessible canyon in Jasper National Park "“ where you will explore frozen waterfalls, ice caves, and incredible ice formations. You will learn about Jasper's Maligne Valley, Karst topography, and the mystery of the "disappearing" Medicine Lake.

Day 5: Jasper / Skiing

For those looking to explore some of the most thrilling ski runs in Alberta, you might chose to use your Marmot Basin Ski Pass for the day.Located in the breathtaking Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Marmot Basin is a ski and snowboard destination that inspires lasting memories. Only 20 minutes from the town of Jasper, Marmot Basin offers 3,000 vertical feet (914m) of superb skiing and snowboarding on 1,675 acres of varied terrain.Large, snow filled bowls are paradise for powder skiers and snowboarders. For those who enjoy cruising, our state of the art grooming fleet keeps the tree-lined trails groomed to perfection.Those who have already discovered Marmot Basin come back for the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, the superb variety of terrain, the all around affordability, first class service and the spectacular Rocky Mountain scenery.

Day 6: Jasper - Banff

This morning you will be transferred to Banff, where you can enjoy a sleigh ride with your family, friends or loved ones. Relax and take in the breathtaking views and sparkling winter air of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The sleigh ride will take you through the Bow River Valley showing you the remote areas around Banff, western style!

Day 7: Banff / Skiing

Banff National Park is home to one of the longest ski seasons in North America and three world-class ski areas, which are all located within 45 minutes of the Town of Banff: Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village, and the Lake Louise Ski Resort. Enjoy a day skiing or snowboarding and experience the "champagne powder" Banff is known for.

Day 8: Banff / Marble Canyon

An easy afternoon introductory tour to snowshoeing. Travel to Kootenay National Park and admire the dramatic colours of Marble Canyon. See how the pounding and frozen waters of Tokumn Creek have eroded a 40 meter deep limestone gorge. Walk through the forest left standing from the 2003 Kootenay fire and search for snowshoe hare, moose and wolf tracks while exploring how the landscape is changing and animals are adapting.

Day 9: Banff / Johnstons Canyon

Hike on steel walkways built into the canyon walls that give an airy view of the canyon below - Travel through prime wildlife habitat on your way to the trail head and learn the clues to how Johnston Canyon was formed - This popular walk will lead you past the lower falls and to the breathtaking upper icefalls.

Day 10: Banff - Calgary

Enjoy a leisurely morning exploring the boutique shops of Banff for last-minute souvenirs and gifts before taking your shuttle transfer to Calgary Airport.

Tour Questions

The tour officially starts in the vibrant coastal city of Vancouver and concludes in Calgary on the final day. Travelers experience a memorable cross-country expedition moving from the coast through the Canadian Rockies.

This is a 10-day winter expedition package designed to showcase the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. The itinerary starts with your arrival in Whistler on Day 1 and concludes after a morning in Banff before transferring to Calgary on Day 10.

Key highlights include exploring Whistler and the Maligne Canyon icewalk, skiing at Marmot Basin and Banff resorts, and enjoying a traditional sleigh ride in Banff National Park. Travelers also experience a snowshoeing excursion to Marble Canyon, a Johnston Canyon guided icewalk, and relaxation at the Scandinave Spa Whistler.

The package includes round-trip transfers from Vancouver to Whistler, Via Rail transportation from Vancouver to Jasper in Sleeper Plus class, and transfers from Jasper to Banff and onward to Calgary. It also covers 8 nights of hotel accommodation plus 1 night onboard the train.

Exclusions from the package include airfares unless specified, travel insurance and cancellation protection, and applicable local taxes. Additionally, gratuities for local guides, tour managers, and bus drivers, as well as unmentioned meals and unlisted attraction entrance fees, are not covered.

While the tours are suitable for all age demographics, the average age of travelers is typically 45 and older. This ensures a comfortable, well-paced, and relaxing travel experience for mature explorers.

Solo travelers can choose to pay a single supplement to secure their own room throughout the tour. Alternatively, for those open to sharing, a Twin Share option is offered on most tours where you room with another same-gender traveler who books the same option, avoiding the single supplement charge.

This tour has a low level of physical demand, although some activities or sightseeing tours require walking short distances. Travelers with mobility restrictions should inquire before booking.

Each passenger is allowed to bring one large suitcase with a weight limit of 32 kilograms (60 pounds), along with one small soft-sided carry-on bag that fits into the overhead shelf of the coach. Passengers are personally responsible for carrying their own hand luggage, while hotel baggage handling is provided.

Yes, the tour operators can accommodate reasonable dietary restrictions such as food allergies, vegan, and vegetarian needs. Guests are requested to inform staff of any specific dietary requirements at the time of booking so alternative meal choices can be arranged.
