Elk Ridge Resort is Saskatchewan's premier all-season resort, located in a friendly, luxurious setting in the heart of the northern Saskatchewan’s boreal forest not far from Prince Albert. Championship golf, an excellent spa, fine dining, and outdoor experiences are available in plenty at the Elk Ridge Resort and in the surrounding areas of the Lakeland region and Prince Albert National Park. With a challenging and picturesque 27-hole championship course; the course includes three 9-hole sections, two restaurants, trails, and the entrance to Prince Albert National Park a short distance away, you have the entire day of activities of choice. The main beach and the National Park Visitor Centre at Lake Waskesiu are only 9 km away.
Less than a three-hour drive north and situated in the Churchill River System on Otter Lake is Thompson’s Resort with 35 rental cabins from bachelor suites to group cabins housing 24 people or more. Each of the units comes equipped with a kitchenette, stocked with basic items, a barbecue, and bathrooms. There’s an old homestead full of antiques to simulate curiosity and forgotten memories or you can try your hand at the well-known Lost Corral Maze, featured in the Amazing Race Canada in 2019. For an extra challenge, try the maze at night. For a taste of city life, drive to nearby Saskatoon and visit the Remai Modern, take one of the Prairie Lily’s river cruises on the South Saskatchewan River, and or sample some excellent farm to fork cuisine that Saskatoon’s downtown restaurants have become famous for.
Drive three hours southwest to the La Reata Ranch on the shore of the South Saskatchewan River. The area around the ranch is steeped in ranching traditions and prairie history. Experience the rodeo trail and the life of competing cowboys firsthand at nearby small towns. Riding, roping, cowboy cookouts on the range, bonfires under the stars, the magnificent scenery, and the down-home hospitality of La Reata Ranch has left past guests with memories that are treasured for a lifetime. What always remain constant here are the glorious sunrises, the spectacular sunsets, the feel of the wind on your face as you ride the open trails, and the peace of mind only a cowboy can enjoy.

Head south to the community of Val Marie, approximately an hour and a half south of Swift Current on Hwy 4. The community is near just outside the West Block of the Grasslands National Park. This is the only Canadian national park that represents prairie grasslands, It is also home to the plains bison, and both the West and East Blocks of the park were declared Dark Sky Preserves in 2019. All accesses to both blocks of Grasslands National Park are by gravel road only. Get details from the Park Visitor Centres and then overnight stay at The Crossing at Grasslands on the border of the park, approximately 5 km from Val Marie. Leave noise and traffic behind and experience The Crossing, your gateway to the wide-open, awe-inspiring expanse of Canada’s only nationally protected grasslands. The Crossing is located on 80 acres and offers a quiet and stunningly beautiful retreat-like setting embraced by grassy, rolling hills and wild prairie skies with direct access to the park for solo hikes and meanders. Explore the 20-km, self-guided Ecotour Scenic Drive in the park’s West Block to discover stunning landscapes, rich history and active conservation. Unique formations of land and climate have created niches for rare plants, birds and animals including the pronghorn antelope, black-tailed prairie dog, burrowing owl, sage grouse, ferruginous hawk, greater short-horned lizard, and prairie rattlesnake.
